Infrastructure
India’s growth largely depends on developing its infrastructure. The government is targeting an investment of US$ 20.38 billion over the next two years in the sector. The plan intends to take up infrastructure projects under public-private partnership (PPP) with minimum private investment. According to the Planning Commission, an investment opportunity of US$ 25 billion lies in India's shipping and ports sectors by 2011-12 as the country plans to double its ports capacity to 1,500 million tonnes. The government is planning on attracting private players through the PPP mode for the development of over 453 airports and airstrips and is also planning on investing US$ 9 billion to modernize the existing airports by 2010.
