The Indo American Chamber of Commerce organized its 5th Indo-US Economic Summit: Looking ahead- Consolidating Alliances on 7 – 8 January 2009 at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi.
Indo American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston was the Partner Chamber in the US. PricewaterhouseCoopers were the Knowledge Partner.
The Summit was supported by the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
The Hon’ble Minister of State for Industry, Mr. Ashwani Kumar, inaugurated the Summit. Ambassador Douglas Hartwick, National Executive, Lockheed Martin (I)(P) Ltd and Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman, Hero Corporate Service delivered the Special Address.
Mr. S K Jain, President, IACC delivered the Welcome Address. Dr Prasad Medury, Summit Chairman made a Theme Presentation and Mr. S Madhavan, Regional President proposed the Vote of Thanks.
Dr Abhishek Singhvi, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha gave the Valedictory Address on 8th January 2009. Dr K C Chakrabarty, Chairman & Managing Director delivered the Special Address during the Valedictory Session.
The summit was addressed by 50 speakers and panelists representing policy makers, industry leaders & subject matter experts.
Over 250 participants attended the Inaugural Session on 7th January 2009. The summit focused on six sectors, three sectors where the Indo-US relationship is already strong and growing and three sectors with emerging business opportunities. The summit thus focused on the following:
- Civil Aviation & Aerospace
- Urban Infrastructure
- Transportation & Logistics
- Nuclear Energy
- India Manufacturing
- Information And Communication Technology
In addition, there was a Panel Discussion on “Indo-Us Relations: Looking Ahead Consolidating Alliances” which was very well attended.
